Honeymoon Bay sits quietly along the coastline of Freycinet National Park, offering one of the region’s most peaceful and picturesque seaside settings. Sheltered from ocean swells and framed by granite cliffs, this small cove is known for its calm water, pale sand and sense of stillness that feels worlds away from busier parts of the park.

Unlike larger beaches in Freycinet, Honeymoon Bay feels intimate and relaxed. The protected shoreline makes it ideal for swimming, snorkelling close to shore or laying out a picnic by the water. With gentle conditions and easy access, it is a favourite for couples, families and visitors seeking a quieter coastal experience.

The bay is also one of Freycinet’s most photographed locations. In the late afternoon, the light softens across the water and the surrounding granite takes on warm tones. As the sun begins to set, the Hazards mountain range glows pink and gold above the bay, reflecting across the still water below. It is a moment best enjoyed slowly, with time to sit, watch and take it all in.

Honeymoon Bay is easily reached by car within Freycinet National Park. A valid parks pass is required, and visitors should bring water, sun protection and any picnic supplies they may need, as facilities are limited. Early mornings and late afternoons are the best times to visit, offering fewer people and the most beautiful light.

After time spent by the water, return to Wineglass Bay Estate, just minutes away. The estate sits directly on the edge of Moulting Lagoon, an internationally recognised wetland rich in birdlife. With absolute lagoon frontage, guests enjoy sweeping sunsets and the daily movement of wildlife, including hundreds of black swans, all visible from private decks.

End the day with a Tasmanian cheese platter and a glass of local wine as the sun dips behind the landscape. It is the perfect way to close a Freycinet day, calm, unhurried and deeply connected to place.
