Josh Rea is a proud Tasmanian and one of Australia’s most respected authorities on caviar and truffles. Raised in Hobart, his early years were shaped by a deep appreciation for food, seasonality and European culinary tradition, instilled at home and reinforced by life close to the sea. From an early age, Josh developed an instinctive understanding of flavour, freshness and provenance — values that continue to define his work today.

After leaving Tasmania, Josh found his calling in the gourmet trade, drawn to the stories behind exceptional ingredients and the people who produce them. A three night luxury experience at Wineglass Bay Estate

This Off Season, Wineglass Bay Estate invites guests to indulge in a winter weekend built around the world’s most coveted flavours: caviar, truffles and cold-climate Tasmanian wine.

Across three nights in your private luxury retreat, you’ll experience a curated journey of rare ingredients and premium Tasmanian hospitality — culminating in a signature Saturday night Caviar & Truffle Experience in collaboration with Josh Rea.

Born and bred in Tasmania, Josh has spent decades travelling the world in search of the finest produce and is widely regarded as Australia’s foremost authority on exceptional caviar, truffles, and rare gourmet ingredients. His global relationships and deep expertise transform this evening into a masterclass in luxury.

Saturday night begins with an intimate caviar and truffle masterclass, featuring Josh’s exclusive blend of some of the world’s finest caviars. This leads into a five-course truffle-led dinner, each course paired with Tasmanian wines selected to complement the richness of the season and the Estate’s cold-climate identity.
